People ask us all sorts of questions:
How did Caravan Beads get started? How much does it cost to open a bead store? How many beads are in 125 grams of 4mm Miyuki cubes? I want to use Delicas with DMC floss: is there a chart to match up the colors? Do you do birthday parties? Can we make jewelry in your store and will you help us? Do you have a printed catalog? Is there a minimum order? Do all your beads have holes in them? When is your next Miyuki shipment coming?
And our all time favorite:
Do you sell bread?
Not every one of these questions is answered on this site, but most of them are. (No, we don't sell bread; yes, the beads have holes.) Use the links at left and above to find answers. If you don't find the answer to your question, please email and let us know.
Our first list of Resources includes some background info about Caravan Beads, as well as an explanation of the Bead Creator bead design software, Mirrix Bead Looms, a bit about charitable lending, and the reference chart for DMC floss.
Under the Miyuki Beads section there is information about the sizes and shapes of Miyuki seed beads. The Miyuki Bead Album will let you compare the different shapes, see how many beads come in a package, and list all the shapes of seed beads that are made by Miyuki. Each individual section gives you more detailed information about the shape of bead, the colors it is available in, and the common uses for that bead.
In the Other Beads section there are a number of articles about Natural beads made from shell, bone, horn, seeds and nuts as well as more information about Miracle beads, Swarovski crystal beads, Freshwater pearls and Porcelain and Ceramic beads.
Thread, cord and wire tells you about our C-flex beading wire, as well the different weights and sizes of C-lon beading thread and cord. All of these bead-stringing materials were developed by Caravan Beads, and have been tested in our retail store over the years so we can make sure they are sturdy and long-lasting.
