Resin beads are popular because of their bright candy-like colors and because they are so lightweight. The resin beads are made in a small village in Java, Indonesia. They are produced in small batches as a cottage industry in an area that relies on their beadmaking income. Resin beads are made by mixing liquid resin with with color, which is then hardened and hand cut and shaped into a variety of shapes and sizes.
Resin beads are durable, lightweight, non-toxic, and the color doesn't fade or run. You can carve into them, adhere polymer and silver clays to them, rubber stamp, emboss, use overlays and more. Hole sizes are generally 1.5 to 2 mm wide and are large enough to handle a variety of stringing materials.
