All clay beads made by Colombian Craft Connection are made with mixtures of earthenware clays, silica, and other non-toxic materials. The Columbian Craft Connection is committed to using non-lead glazes and providing jobs to indigenous peoples.
In keeping with the Pre-Colombian methods of fabrication, the beads are cut by hand, so their lengths are not even, thus creating a strand that has a characteristic movement and therefore the number of beads per inch will vary greatly. The clay beads are very lightweight.
The Pre-Colombian style beads are produced in cylindrical slices (doughnuts or Heishi beads). Because of the handmade nature of the beads, size and color may vary from photographs and from shipment to shipment.
